The “built-in 90° column” will tilt the center column from vertical setting to horizontal direction at 90° from the top of the tripod. Consequently, the adjustment of the camera height can only be done by tripod leg height. Increasing the height of the tripod will naturally distances the camera from the object, and the tripod’s opening width requires much wider space. On the other hand, “add-on” type Sliding Arm will give a freedom of adjusting camera height by combination of tripod leg, center column and angle of sliding arm, within the constraints of the shooting site.
Also, the Sliding Arm II can be placed at lower end of the tripod center column by simply flipping the tripod center column. This posture is quite useful for the super low angle shot as well as macro shot. By extending the sliding arm to maximum length, it is possible to stick the camera out of the tripod leg during the macro
shooting.
